Sweet, Charming & Emotional… “Me Before You” by Jojo Moyes is one of the best romantic movies. A review by Farah Ali Khan

Me Before You is one of the best romantic movies I have ever seen. It was touching, heartwarming, and simply beautiful. The story is about a man who is paralyzed from the neck down and is being cared for by a woman who falls in love with him. It is a beautiful tale of love, pain, and courage.

Written by Jojo Moyes & Directed by Thea Sharrock, the film is one of the best in the romantic genre.

“Me Before You” is a Romantic Drama

Will Traynor is a wealthy young man who becomes paralyzed after a tragic accident. His caretaker, Louisa Clark, falls in love with him despite his initial protests. As their relationship deepens, Will begins to see the value in life again and the two must grapple with whether or not their relationship can survive when Will’s condition is slowly deteriorating.

Years earlier, he was a lively man but, now the wheelchair-dependent guy is depressed & hopeless. The presence of Clarke around made him realize that every moment is worth living. Both actors Clarke and Sam Claflin were absolutely effortless in the emotionally directed romance.

I absolutely loved “Me Before You”. It was an incredibly touching and heartwarming script. The acting was superb, and the chemistry between the two main characters was electric. I teared up several times during the film, but it was also funny and uplifting at times. This is definitely one of my new favorite movies.

Cast

1. Emilia Clarke as Louisa “ Lou” Clark

2. Sam Claflin as Will Traynor

3. Janet McTeer as Camilla Traynor

4. Charles Dance as Stephen Traynor

5. Brendan Coyle as Bernard Clark

6. Jenna Coleman as Natasha

7. Matthew Lewis as Patrick

8. Sam Neill as Mr. Traynor

Acting

Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin were both amazing in their respective roles. Emilia Clarke brought a sense of warmth and kindness to her character that was simply infectious. Sam Claflin was charming and charismatic as Will Traynor. He brought an element of pain to the character that was inspiring.

Stephen Peacocke & Joanna Lumley played their characters beautifully. The character of Lou’s parents is played by Brendan Cayle and Samantha Spiro.

Me Before you is fun, love, emotions and helplessness

Two Most Heart Touching Scenes

Will enjoys Lou Clark’s company but a burdened life is none less than hell to him. Will’s parents allowed him assisted suicide. However, on more than one occasion, you will cry watching a young woman struggling in a massive castle to make her romance possible.

When Will finally accepts Louisa’s help and agrees to go outside for a picnic

It is a touching moment that really highlights the strength of their relationship. Lou is clearly devoted to Will and her willingness to help him enjoy life again is truly inspiring. It was so emotional because it showed how much Will had grown to care for Louisa and was willing to let her help him. It was also touching because it showed how far Will had come from when he first refused to let Lou help him. This scene showed how much Will had changed and how much he had come to care for Lou.

When Louisa confesses her love for Will

It is a beautifully touching moment. You can see the raw emotion of joy, romance, and fear in her eyes. It is clear that Lou Clark truly loves him. It is sure to leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. The actress, so honestly expresses her feelings and it is clear that she would do anything for him. It tore my heart into several pieces when the Hunger Games fame, Will, knowingly of his feelings & sincerity for Clark, refuses her love for him because he doesn’t want her to be with a man who can’t give her everything she deserves.

She asked him to live boldly & accept the beauty of moments they can spend together but, of course, Wills is not one of the routine heroes. He said he wanted better for her. Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin are heart-touching in this epic romantic scene.

From Novel to Film Adaptation

The biggest change that I noticed was the addition of more scenes that showed the developing relationship between Will and Louisa. In the book, their relationship seemed to develop a bit more slowly and I didn’t feel as invested in it. However, in the movie directed by Thea Sharrock who had experience in theaters, I found myself rooting for them from the beginning.

Additionally, the film added in several new characters that helped to round out this not-so-ideal love saga. I felt like the novel was mostly focused on Will and Lou, but the movie did a good job of giving us a glimpse into their lives outside of their relationship. It was the first feature film by director Thea Sharrock.

It was a great adaptation of the novel and I enjoyed it even more than the book.

Its a Movie for a Good Cry

“Me Before You” is a movie that will leave you in tears, but it is also a story of romance, honesty, and courage. Will Traynor is a man who is paralyzed from the neck down and is being cared for by a woman who falls in love with him. The plot follows their relationship as it deepens and Will begins to see the value in life again. He was a happy man in his old life but a traffic accident left him paralyzed.

I teared up several times during the film, but it was also funny and uplifting watching Emilia Clarke in her effortless sweet aura. The love lost & Will’s decision to give death preference over a dependent life will touch your heart. The screenplay is written around the point of a ray of hope & pursuing death. The soundtrack is equally amazing.

The game of thrones actress is not only charming in this love story, but also cute & funny at the same time.
